Former first lady Laura Bush said Wednesday that her husband did not want his presidential library and museum "to be a monument to himself."
Instead, she said at a news conference on the eve of the dedication of the George W. Bush Presidential Center, it's a representation of life in the White House and the challenges the country faced during his eight years in office.
All five living presidents will attend Thursday's ceremony on the Southern Methodist University campus.
Laura Bush spoke in a replica of the White House Rose Garden this one populated with Texas bluebonnets outside a recreated Oval Office where visitors can have photos taken while sitting behind the desk.
