I'm a content man' [View all]As someone who never really wanted to DO the job from the beginning, he allowed the jackasses who had Iraq in their gun sites to take advantage of his father complex to do Iraq, without the first thought of the mess it possibly could be.
I think his mannerisms toward those people, like Cheney over time indicated that he knew it was an epic fuck up, and he kept them at arms length, and was much more careful about letting them direct him.
What I hear when he says this, is someone who knows in his heart that he was a flaming disaster, but does not want to experience the personal awareness of it while giving the middle finger to everyone.
At this point, he is more than content to die having denied the country the acknowledgement on this part for the disaster it was, how bad of a decision it was, and how horribly he led the country for 8 years.
