A new Census report released Wednesday found that roughly 11 million Latinos cast votes in last year's election, amounting to an increase of 1.4 million voters from 2008.

Still, the report, titled The Diversifying Electorate — Voting Rates by Race and Hispanic Origin in 2012 (and Other Recent Elections), showed that the rate of eligible Latino voters who participated in the election dipped from 49.9 percent in 2008 to 48 percent in 2012. Moreover, only 8.4 percent of the eligible Latino electorate participated in last year's election, even though the group comprises nearly 11 percent of the eligible electorate overall.

The report also found that there were 1.7 million more black voters in 2012 than in 2008.
