As a people, they absolutely are enthralled with the US. If any people on Earth would have voted for George W. Bush, it would have been Iranians. They're stuck in the '70s (oh God, bellbottoms!, NOOO), but they are all about everything the US has.

If we were serious about otherthrowing the Iranian Gov, we'd be broadcasting MTV nonstop over VOA, dropping Victoria Secret catalogues from stealth bombers, and smuggling in DVDs of anime. The civil war would be over in a few weeks.
