Right wingers I know, other than the ones that drive big honking pickup trucks, drive imports and have always loved for years to bash Detroit. They do like Toyotas made here though.

I don't know if I have any "left wing" friends as such, other than being pro-labor democratic voters. But I believe you're right though: Of left wing ( socially liberal, neoliberal on econ ) acquaintances and whatever extended family members/in laws I've run into they're definitely favor imports.
