There are a minority of folks here on DU who will take up sides with any & all tyrannical regimes around the world simply because they oppose the US or something the US is trying to do or rumored of doing.

Seriously, this is obvious when folks try & equate what happened to Manning to what happened at Tiananmen Square...How SAD is that?

The same exact "logic" is used by the same people when it comes to issues like Syria...They purposely forget the Syrian Civil War started not because of terrorist like Russia & the Assad regime claim but due to DECADES of torture, oppression & murder that came a head when the Assad regime caught some KIDS spray painting anti-Assad regime slogans & they tortured the kids until they died then shipped the battered, broken & bruised bodies back to the parents as a warning to everyone do not mess with the regime...This is when the Syrian people broke & became violent as they should have!!

But listen to folks here on DU that claim to be "Liberals" and they will repeat the Assad regime's BS claims this all started due to Al Qaeda & other radical Islamic groups when nothing could be further from the truth! SAD & DISGUSTING!!

Even today the radical Islamic groups in Syria make a small minority...However, the longer the war goes the more radical folks will get that is the nature of war.

Sorry for the rant.
