(15,438 posts)Cheney's PNAC {Project for a New America}. They warned that because of its establishment in 1997, if GW would win, they would take this country to war in the M.E. almost immediately. And their reporting was, sadly, vindicated.
That's why I was astonished to see that the Guardian, a reliable progressive news source, would use a Republican epithet of the Democratic Party instead of the correct name that was established by two of our founding fathers, Thomas Jefferson and James Madison as the Democratic-Republican Party, and later, when it split over some disagreement about candidates, it was renamed by Andrew Jackson and Martin van Buren as the Democratic Party. In no time in history has a Democrat referred to the Party as Democrat Party.
It's perfectly fine to refer to the members of that Party as Democrats or Democrat such-and-such, but the name of the political party is and always has been Democratic Party, unless one conforms to allowing Republican word-wizards to get away with that epithet.
