except for a few hour period when she broke down during an overnight interrogation, without food, sleep, or an attorney, and signed what they wanted her to sign.

And they conveniently didn't bother to record the interrogation, saying that they couldn't afford to -- even though they recorded every other conversation in the station that week and had the funds to wiretap 29,000 calls.
