I always tell my friends and family that one thing that is so frustrating about autism is that it's "invisible." People give you the hairy eyeball so much because they can't see anything "wrong" with your kid, therefore it must be bad parenting/laziness/bratty child/etc.. Same for disability payments with that person. S/he can't "see" the disability, therefore it doesn't exist. Tell that to someone with Lupus, MS, etc..
