A racist who expanded the very liberal Federal Water Pollution Control Act with the Clean Water Act of 1972.

Far too many Democrats in the here and now would run from that type of legislation as though it were bad corporate branding with no cash attached.

If curious, one may read 'President Nixon, Alone in the White House' by Richard Reeves who maintains and lists many acts that today would be seen as progressive legislation.

Although I realize it's rather difficult for us to allow the vast majority of humanity the allowance of both good and bad deeds, and we'd much rather assign one simplistic label to better assuage our own positions, that road is rife with intellectual fraud against both ourselves and others.
