1. The Western elites just can't wrap their heads around Putin's popularity.

He will be elected by a clear majority, against a number of opposition candidates, including Prokhorov, who the Western media tried to promote. The Russian voters want a candidate that will most emphatically not be like Yeltsin, and won't go along with the old Washington consensus.
