(1,397 posts)As of 0630 Wednesday morning, Democrats have won the top three elected positions in Virginia.
Governor
McAuliffe: 47.75%
Cuccinelli: 45.27%
Sarvis (Libertarian): 6.52%
Lt Gov
Northam: 55.14%
Jackson: 44.49%
Attorney General
Herring: 49.91%
Obenshain: 49.88%
HOWEVER:
1. Absentee votes are still being counted in some districts, mostly in heavily-Democratic Northern Virginia.
2. There likely will be a recount in the AG race.
3. Republicans still hold the Virginia House of Delegates, 67 to 33.
3. The State Senate is still a 20-20 tie; Ralph Northam (D), as Lt Gov, will vote in case of a tie.
In his concession speech, Ken Cuccinelli ranted about how this election was a referendum on Obamacare. It was not, except in the minds of a few Tealiban. The election was about Cooch, Jackson, and Obenshain . . . three of the most radical rightwing nutjobs ever put together on a single ticket.
