and his reforms, while necessary, were very badly done.

Maduro seems even more hamfisted. Chavez managed to persuade the capitalist movers and shakers to play ball with him. Maduro is only good at pissing them off and making them destabilize the country through artificial shortages.

Jailing the worst of them isn't going to help him one bit, they'll only escalate the problems.

That's what ideologues never seem to learn, that they have to learn how to play ball with a lot of people they don't like in order to get things done.

Maduro thinks he can bully them into it. Maduro is wrong.

I hope when he goes he won't be replaced by some Pinochet clone. However, when nominal socialists act this badly, it's unavoidable.
