Sheriff Arpaio: Obama birth certificate a ‘forgery’

70. The Sheriff claims at least 2 crimes are in evidence.

As a Sheriff and officer does he not bear the responsibility to follow up on those with appropriate enforcement? Where is the DA and Judge to get the warrants to serve? Where is the coordination with other legal authorities who may have an interest?

Why the hands-off of this Sheriff? Who does he own? If this had been said about a Bush (or Shrub) President you know there would have been a powerful response from DOJ, FBI, or at least the DAR.

Who keeps protecting this guy??? ALEC? The NRA? The Chamber of Commerce? Several ordinary civilians have taken this kind of position and one result was interviews by either FBI or Secret Service. Or should that be who wants him grandstanding in front of the cameras challenging Federal law enforcement?

Who pursues the charges of false accusation by the Sheriff? Does the ACLU have a legal anti-hit squad?

One wonders if things are that bad in Maricopa County that someone wearing the badge more responsibly would not be an improvement. Is Arizona so much worse than Detroit, LA, or Lower Manhattan and which Mob is the Sheriff fronting for?

Yes I know the paper of record is more than suspect. This really is well beyond reasonable differences and begs the question of this guy's legal responsibilities much as Orly Taitz's behavior has.

PHOENIX -- America's self-proclaimed toughest sheriff finds himself entangled these days in his own thorny legal troubles: a federal grand jury probe over alleged abuse of power, Justice Department accusations of racial profiling and revelations that his department didn't adequately investigate hundreds of Arizona sex-crime cases.

Rather than seek cover, though, Maricopa County Sheriff Joe Arpaio is seeking to grab the spotlight in the same unorthodox fashion that has helped boost his career as a nationally known lawman.
