Former 60 Minutes producer Mary Mapes's book Truth and Duty: The Press , the President, and the Privilege of Power. explains the first full assault on truth by right wing bloggers and pundits - and how it worked because the media accepted it without question. No one wanted to stand up against the loud, fast-moving lies of the bloggers or their personal and hateful attacks. Now this is just everyday right wing behavior.

The truth of Bush's time in the National Guard got buried. They attacked the documents as being fake. The book shows the difference in scanned and faxed copies from the originals. Colonel David Hackworth saw the documents and said Bush was AWOL. But they could never get past the widely spread belief about the document being forged.

They can't get away with it again!
