33. I lived in KC in the 70's...

...and even then, they were the most violent and aggressive PD I'd ever seen.

One incident that sticks in my mind was when they responded to an attempted bank robbery in downtown KC. A police dog mauled one of the perps to death in the bank while the other fled with a hostage in a stolen car.

The KCPD pulled over the car, surrounded it, threw open the back door and started shooting, killing the other perp and seriously wounding the hostage.

Everybody seemed a little highly strung in Kansas City. I only stayed 4 months.
