Authorities: 'Extreme' tornado damage in Indiana

INDIANAPOLIS -- Multiple people are unaccounted for in Henryville after a tornado ripped through the southern Indiana town just off Interstate 65 on Friday afternoon, Indiana State Police Capt. Dave Bursten said.

Tornadoes have left widespread damage in southern Indiana, and a sheriff's official said the town of Marysville, just east of Henryville, is "completely gone."

National Weather Service coordinator Bill Whitlock confirmed that the agency is tracking "extreme damage" in the Henryville area, about 20 miles north of Louisville, Ky.

There were also reports of damage in the Wadesville area of Posey County.

Several other suspected tornadoes struck southern Indiana on Friday, but central Indiana largely avoided the wrath of an epic day of severe weather across several states.
