(25,406 posts)He's a bit too acerbic for voters who are more than a few hundred miles away from NYC, and he will absolutely repel the folks who vote in Republicon primaries in Iowa. I doubt that he'll have much sway in New Hampshire, either, and the only people who will vote for him in South Carolina and Florida are NY/NJ emigres who fled those states for the aforementioned tax havens. I just don't see the fundies lining up behind him throughout the country.
I'd put more money on Rand Paul in the Rethug race, he inherits the decades-old base from his father. He's been plugging the libertarian line, and while that doesn't sell well with control-freak fundamentalists, he's paid lip service to Christianity, they may not tune him out completely.
Still, I cannot see any Repuke who can overcome Hillary, and she knows it. She knows this is her one and only opportunity, and nobody else will stand in her way.
