18. That's a tough sell that's for sure ...

Given that the 'bust' was in August, and the cops raided that house and all that, and the charges came just now. Obviously, they 'found stuff' that corroborates the email exchanges.

If today was the day he was busted, and everything they 'had on him' was just interactions through gmail, I suppose one might semi-reasonably (if so inclined) entertain the whole 'his account must've been hacked/he's being set up' scenario, buuuuut ... given how it's all gone down and the time that's passed ... I'm going to say ... a 'setup' is not very damn likely.

And boy, talk about a friggin' idiot. I mean obviously he's a bad person/deviant but he's also amazingly stupid on top of it ... to be bragging that way about your illegal/immoral deeds to some total stranger on the internet, and sending them illegal photos ... how dumb do you have to be?

I hope this guy has no kids of his own, or access to them. At least that way the damage is somewhat 'contained'.

There's a part me though that always wonders when I hear a story like this ... I wonder what happened to THEM ... when they were children? It's pretty well-known this phenomenon is usually a 'cycle', where abuse begets abuse.

Not excusing it by any means, but ... there's a small part of me that feels pity for abuse victims that grow up to feel compelled to act in the same way they were 'taught'. Well, I should say, I feel some pity for those grown-up victims that actually TRY to get help, but still end up failing, because we have so very little in the way of treatments. OTOH, if they're victims but just go about their evil business w/o a 2nd thought when they grow up ... I have no pity at all for that.
