but I get the sense that yes Phil started the company but it was the son who made into the company that it is today. Before the massive products-everywhere marketing.

Just my take.

As pointed out here by others they used to be quite the nouveau riche yuppie family not too long ago. They knew they could look like knock off bayou Kennedy's to sell their show.
