(45,984 posts)When I express my displeasure with Mrs. Clinton, I bring up her support for the Frat Boy's war in Iraq and for NAFTA. That's fair game, but somehow I don't expect the Republicans to bring those things up Nevertheless, if Mr. Preibus and his people want to criticize things that really are in her record or any personal decision for which she is responsible, that's fair game.
Having said that, I fail to see how Mrs. Clinton had anything to say about her husband's tacky relationship with Ms. Lewinsky. Mrs. Clinton was the wronged woman in that matter. What does Mr. Preibus expect the Republicans to gain bringing it up against her?
As for the impeachment of President Clinton, he was the president who was impeached, not her. Moreover, while the affair was tacky, it was not an impeachable offense. As for for the claim that Clinton was impeached not for being a naughty boy but for lying about it in front of a grand jury, let's not be ridiculous. If it was about lying and not the affair itself, why did House Speaker-for-a-day Bob Livingston resign not just the speaker's chair but his seat in Congress? As I recall, it was because of revelations that he had had an extra-marital affair. He never even discussed it under oath, but he still resigned. Don't tell me it was about lying and not the affair itself. The Republicans were only grandstanding for Jerry Falwell and company.
Nevertheless, no matter how Mr. Preibus and Senator Paul slice and dice it, Mrs. Clinton had nothing to do with it. In fact, she was probably, as they say, the last to know.
