That seems to be the real dividing line between mainstream Republicans and Tea Partiers:

Are you smart enough to couch your racism in doubletalk?

Racists like William Rehnquist were able to advance to the very top by making sure that his preaching never resembled his actual practice.

Chumps like this guy, ignorant even of the ever-forgiving standards Republicans set for themselves when it comes to racism in speech and deed, just aren't tall enough to reach the bar.

But it looks like they're gonna take over, anyway, and I'm all for it. Stupid is a lot more predictable than evil.
