In reply to the discussion: Congressional Black Caucus: DoJ should investigate Trayvon Martin shooting (CHC did the same) [View all]MD20
(123 posts)During Zimmerman's call on a non emergency line, he said, among other things, "now he's coming towards me."
Then, after saying, "these (expletive deleted) always get away," Zimmerman gets out of his car and the incident escalates.
I tried to envision how Trayvon might have been coming towards Zimmerman. Did Zimmerman pass by and park in front of Trayvon?
From the tape of Zimmerman's phone call, it seems he had parked strategically in a position where Martin would have to pass. As Martin approached, George Zimmerman jumped out of his vehicle causing Martin to bolt. That is when we hear Zimmerman say: "he's running"... And, at that point, Zimmerman intercepted Martin who was trying to run past him. I doubt if an obese man, like Zimmerman appears to be, would be in for chasing someone smaller and quicker like Martin.
Zimmerman's description of Martin "acting suspicious" is easily explainable. When a stranger seems to be tailing you in a car for no apparent reason, a plausible reaction would be to look for potential avenues of escape.
The time this incident occurred is important. It was around 7:00PM or thereabouts . Most people are at home during that time as evidenced by the number of 911 calls reporting the fray. If Zimmerman's mind had not been clouded by his obsession with anti-black vigilantism he might have realized that most thieves or burglars work when people are asleep or away from their homes. A tiime of 3:00AM would have favored Zimmerman but the time of 7:00 PM only underlines the real motive of a murderer.
