12. It has been my observation that the most virulently

homophobic organizations have been the ones up to their eye-balls in sexual abuse. Show me a minister/politician who can't shut up about homosexuality and I will show you people who should not be allowed alone with any children.

I know the BSA is typically "behind the curve" on social issues, heck when I was a cub scout they still technically allowed for racially segregated units, but they are evolving in the right direction, albeit slowly.

You make my point. The BSA has a long history of bigotry and they have no benefit of a doubt from me until they have demonstrated they have left that legacy behind. The story in the OP shows they are still a very morally backward organization who hide their hatred in the same sanctimonious trappings they always have.

The BSA also has a LONG history (dating back to its founder) of tolerating child sexual abuse. Just because it has a decade or two of good behavior does not mean they are off the hook. Also, when they were molesting kids and got caught, they blamed "teh gays". Thus, the two issues ARE linked.
