"Is it really worth inconveniencing the public"? That's kind of the whole point; that it does inconvenience the public. We're talking about public sector employees; the point of the strike is that the union wants working on Boxing Day to be voluntary (day after Christmas, bank holiday, etc) and not mandatory, and that they want workers compensated with triple time and another day off in lieu of the missed holiday.
