7. It exploits people's ignorance about stats

All these articles are produced by media outlets that have to generate something newsworthy 24/7. So, they end up overinterpreting noise. The best medicine is to step back, and only look at patterns that unfold at a slower time scale. Ignore the day-to-day hysteria.
