Is it only "recent" converts that trouble you? If they convert in 1995, it's better than 2005?
Not sure what your point is. People DO change. And sometimes they change in HUGE and overwhelming ways. Look at the life story of Robert Byrd--from Klansman to ardent defender of the Constitution. Read David Brock's Blinded By the Right -- it'll set your hair on fire.
