And the NSA/CIA/USA decided they didn't like what he was doing over there, so the Obama Administration went to this secret FISA court, which was secretly appointed by Supreme Court Justice Roberts, and asked for permission to kill him dead...without trial or any kind of "due process" as is the right of any US citizen under our Constitution. With drones. And they did.
