I mean, its not as if a lay person could actually understand this stuff if they took the time to read any of the dozens of books that provide popular accounts of evolutionary biology for lay people. Its not like you can actually dig into the relevant molecular biology and find out that GE techniques simply represent a faster and more precise way of doing EXACTLY what we've been doing to plants for thousands of years, as I, a non-biologist, in fact did.
