Unfortunately, making laws against this is only one step. The rest involves education.
I'd strongly suggest you read up on the flds here in the US and parts of Canada before you go on about "living in some backwoods shithole." Also read up on US based "gay cure" groups allied with major "religious" organizations; also here in the US. If I wanted to spend more time, I'm pretty sure I could come up with quite a bit more coming from the non-"backwoods shithole" that is the good old USA.
Ignorance grows where education is suppressed; "backwoods shithole" or not.
