As you said, the Palestinians need to leave Israel alone. And Israel needs to get out of the West Bank.

But neither will happen. Many Palestinians are enraged over the settlements. And rightly so. And many Israelis see the settlements as necessary security outposts. That idea has some merit.

Now throw in those Palestinians who want every Israeli dead, and those Israelis who want every Palestinian dead.

It makes for a terrible situation. I see only two possibilities. Either simmering hatred and violence forever (like India vs. Pakistan) , or an horrific war that destroys one side (Rome vs. Carthage).
