In reply to the discussion: France's Jews Flee As Rioters Burn Paris Shops, Attack Synagogue [View all]DFW
(59,681 posts)There haven't been especially large Jewish communities in Europe since World War II. France and Belgium ARE exceptions, but with the huge number of Turks in Germany and Austria, and Moroccans in Belgium and Holland (to a lesser degree in Scandinavia), the number of Muslim haters have outnumbered the Jew haters for the simple reason that the Muslim haters have a much bigger target to shoot at. Plus, bashing Muslim immigrants (discriminated against, and, being poorer, more likely to commit violent crime) won't automatically get you called a Nazi. Bashing Jews (in Germany and Austria, at least) will, and Nazis are still illegal in Germany and Austria. If you're going to join a hate group, you might as well join one that won't get you arrested. In France and Belgium, the cops are scared to arrest an Arab just for hate speech because they know full well a full scale riot will ensue. And if a full scale riot ensues, they're STILL reluctant to arrest a rioter for fear of riots expanding to other areas of the country. I live over there, am in France and Belgium once a week, speak all the local languages (not Hebrew or Arabic). I see this stuff all the time.
