9. 20+ years of US military intervention in Iraq, and conditions for Iraqi women are desperate

Those poor women, this is beyond horrific. I expect they will be forced to convert to Islam and taken as wives, perhaps second wives. If they don't speak the words of adopting Islam, they will be killed.

If they are ever rescued, they will likely be killed by their families upon their return, perhaps in the public square of their village. To preserve the family 'honor.'
