(14,437 posts)By chance, many years ago... maybe twenty, my husband and I were waiting for a delayed flight from San Francisco... coming into Philadelphia on Christmas Eve. We were in a crowd of about thirty people at one in the morning sitting on the floor at the gate. One of those waiting was Robin Williams and a couple of body guards. I don't think that many recognized him. He was heavily bearded with a knit cap pulled way down almost over his eyes. At one point during the three hour delay, I caught his eye and he raised his coffee cup in a toast. I raised mine in return and averted my eyes. It was painfully obvious that he was almost desperate to not be recognized.
Later, after the flight landed, as we waited for my sister-in-laws luggage to come down the belt... one of his body guards came up to my husband and asked if we were going into Philly. Robin offered us a ride in his limo. We declined and that was that. I will never forget his kindness and his immense talent. Just wanted to share one of life's' little unexpected moments.
Sleep well Robin.
