In reply to the discussion: Panetta blasts defense cuts [View all]rudycantfail
(300 posts)4. Can we finally forget the (D) or (R) already?
The Democratic Party establishment will always pack cabinet positions with DLC. The DLC (or whatever name they currently use) legitimizes and defends bogus conservative memes and delegitimizes the truth, especially when it comes to matters of "defense". They legitimized and supported the invasion of Iraq. That they have paid no political price, are still considered the foreign policy experts and are firmly in control of the Democratic Party has to speak volumes to any who dare to listen.
'"What they essentially did was to put a gun to their heads and to the heads of the country," he said.' - This is as fucked up a quote by a Dem as anything I've heard Lieberman say. Panetta and the people who put guys like him in power are major assholes.

Of course. Defense is big, profitable business. Lots of money to be made.

Looks as if the only way the hordes can be held off is by gutting social security and medicare

If the Generals can't really say or do anything, why would it matter if they turn against Obama.

No mention of the Bush tax cuts extension. Is he playing to the GOP/teabagger/dittohead tune?

The tune I'm talking about ignores the Bush tax cuts, and continued attacks on social spending.

DLC died an ignominious death and is no more. The major problem for those I know in office, is morale.

Well, I'm hanging out with the fossils, then. The problem is the language has been stolen from us.

It would be responsible to shrink the "defense industry" small enough to drown in a teaspoon.

Lying about the defense of America to line the coffers of the MIC should be treason
