In reply to the discussion: President Obama tried to get a tee time at New York golf courses, got turned down [View all]Iamthetruth
(487 posts)There can be only one reason and I'm guessing he uses that for many excuses. The average round for one of these high end courses is well over $100. Let's say for simplification it's $100. Groups go out in foursomes so we are looking at $400 a group. Now let's say they have start times every ten minutes(they actually are sooner). That would mean six groups an hour for $2,400 an hour. Now add into that ten hours of start times and you get $24,000 a day in tee times. That does not take into account food, merchandise, balls and everything else. Your talking well over $100,000 a day if not much more. Labor Day is the busiest weekend of the year for many courses.
So the courses said no not because of the six figures they would lose, not because their members would get shut out on a holiday weekend for a non member, nope because he is black. Seriously?
