40. How about "Person of Interest" - current TV show?

In which the computer ("The Machine&quot designed to watch over everyone in order to find terrorist is taught ethics by its creator and removes itself from government control. Harold, who designed and taught The Machine, is given a "number" of a person who either needs help or needs to be stopped. Harold aligned with John, who is his "enforcer."

Since the original premise, the show has been expanded to include 1) a rival computer ("Northern Lights&quot that has been co-opted by corrupt powers and 2) a group that is fighting government intrusion into people's privacy. 3) Root, a woman who talks to The Machine and wants to "free" it from being controlled by anyone. And the two computers are getting more and more out of the control of the humans.

The intro to each show:

"You are being watched. The government has a secret system: a machine that spies on you every hour of every day. I know, because I built it. I designed the machine to detect acts of terror, but it sees everything. Violent crimes involving ordinary people; people like you. Crimes the government considered 'irrelevant'. They wouldn't act, so I decided I would. But I needed a partner, someone with the skills to intervene. Hunted by the authorities, we work in secret. You'll never find us, but victim or perpetrator, if your number's up... we'll find you".
