(45,251 posts)43. Yes, violent rebellion against one's own government is treason.
I don't know that I object to it, regardless of the reason. In the US in 1776, in France in 1789, in Russia in 1914, I probably would have sided with the rebels. Not on the side of rebelling because the US did not want to extend slavery to the territories, though.
