Americans would imprison someone who tortured their dog, much less a human being. People just do not comprehend what the torture means in terms of human suffering and for no information or at the most, information that could have been or was obtained through other means.
The information obtained through torture, if any, would have to be checked and corroborated and would be intermingled with so many falsehoods, so much misleading information as to be worthless.
The Germans crushed some of the American and British and French resisters and spies during WWII through the use of torture, but that was a very different situation.
