In reply to the discussion: Arabs endorse Palestinian U.N. draft urging end of Israel occupation. [View all]Mosby
(19,491 posts)The Palestinians have been state less for almost 70 years. They and the Arab states have failed repeatedly to negotiate a settlement, preferring violence and propaganda. Their refugee population is growing exponentially and will continue to expect the west to subsidize this. Today it's 11 million, in a decade it will be 20-25 million "refugees" living on your taxes.
Meanwhile Israel will be able to maintain the status quo into the foreseeable future, with or without their US subsidy. Their economy is doing well but the biggest issue facing them in the future is climate change.
Climate change is only going to increase, unless you have some magical answer to the massive pollution coming from China, India and Russia. Rising sea levels is going to affect all the world's coastlines, including the EU and Israel, in the next couple decades the israelis will need to focus on raising the coastal areas to prevent flooding. Europe will also need to spend precious resources as well to raise coastlines. Where does that leave the Palestinians, shit out of luck is where. They need to get their stuff together pronto and negotiate or history is going to pass them by.
Brutal, but that's reality.
