(58,369 posts)Lieberman was an Independent at that point even though he continued to caucus with Dems, but he always voted like a Republican. He fucking endorsed McCain over Obama. He voted against tax increases. He and other conservadems would have never voted for a $320 Billion tax increase on anyone when we were in the throws of the worst part of the great recession. Obama used those precious few days to push through the auto industry bailout and the Recovery Act, which got us out of the worst of the recession and stopped the job losses.
Now that the economy is growing, he has a better environment to propose spreading that growth around rather than letting it all go to the 1%. Even if it doesn't get past the GOP, it does make it crystal clear for the voters where Dems stand. Hopefully that will get Dems off their asses in 2016 so that we can win back the House and Senate, and keep the White House.
