A successful socialist country in the Americas is a very very dangerous thing to capitalist everywhere. The US is the stronghold of capitalism. In the US the most rabid of greedy elite, corporate capitalist reside, swap homes, play and destroy for fun and profit. It is the epicenter of tearing apart a once rich and powerful nation for fun and power.

They can't have a successful socialist country so close to their capitalist playground. Americans might notice.
