by Pharaoh's daughter-a familiar image and story to generations of Americans and a story of oppression, a parent's determination to save a child, family separation, slavery, and eventual freedom-an image and story that is part of our cultural heritage.

de Adder's cartoon speaks to the choice facing us - are we going to be the people of life and freedom or death and oppression. We have a cultural heritage of both.
