There are probably medical studies proving that visits by loved ones increase the likelihood of recovering from illness / disease / etc. One could argue therefore that there is a valid medical reason for allowing these visits, and that the patient`s Constitutional Rights are being violated if the visits are denied. And the hospital could be sued for malpractice as well. I really think any competent lawyer could put together such a case by, oh, say lunchtime. I think anyone interested should pursue this angle (if it hasn`t already been pursued).
