to raise money to help pay his dad's medical expenses.

People wouldn't have to hold raffles or bake sales or benefit concerts in order for their family members or friends to have an operation or buy medicine.

I'm glad so many people helped this boy and his dad. But it shouldn't have been necessary in the first place.
