The unit was actived 14 times from creation in 2003 through 4/1/2009.

It was activated for the 2012 inauguration.

Sounds like it's the go-to unit that's prepared in the event something untoward is considered a possibility.

Nobody really cared. The level of suspicion and distrust wasn't high enough yet.
