on a wide range of subjects. Everyone does Google searches -- tinker, tailor, soldier, spy -- and, that in itself would make Google, if it didn't exist, something NSA (and a number of agencies, both US and others) would HAVE TO invent.

Besides, resale of (some) of its data on Google users is worth billions. Any smart person would want to get in at the moment of conception.

So, why should anyone be at all surprised? It's simply irresistible.
