8. This was another Republican "nation building"disaster

The Afghan government was never recognized as authoritative by the people, and that's the problem. It was always seen as an American puppet government. No matter how much training the army got, it did not know for what it was fighting and dying.

Then Trump, in his propensity to side with the worst, decided that making friends with Taliban wouldn't be so bad. The orange headed buffoon is just an amoral pig driven by his hunger for money and saw Afghanistan as a potential investment opportunity. That pulled the rug out from what little trust had been placed in the government by the people. And as usual in these nation-building situations where Republicans want to push right-wing ideology, the corruption boggled the mind as a few Afghans pocketed much of the billions poured into the country. They flew out weeks ago, to Switzerland, mostly.

Liz Cheney's criticism of Biden should be good for a laugh, considering her father's influence is one of the reasons why things are the way they are now. Had the US done what should have been done, instead of messing around in Iraq and headed to Afghanistan originally, done what needed to be done with Al Quaida and got out, none of this would be happening. The biggest share of the blame belongs to Bush and the Republicans, then Trump and his enablers.

We need to learn not to do this anymore. People do not want a foreign power in their country, human rights or not. We can't keep doing this.
