He will carry El Paso and the lower Rio Grand by at least 70%, but that is only about 10% of the vote. Abbott is underwater for sure but will have a huge war chest from the oil and banking crowd. He lost to Cruz by about about 2 points and the race will be similar. I like Beto a lot but the whole thing will be tough. A lot of Texans are employed by the energy industry and they will do everything in their power to keep any kind of honest government from happening. Ditto for groups like homebuilders and insurance. It would take record turnout, which has actually been happening. The key areas are Dallas-Ft Worth, and Houston which has nearly a third of the Texas population. All of those deep red counties on the map are sparsely populated and not worth much effort. I've been hoping someone from Houston will run but I'll work for Beto.
