Finally, witnessing the revival of fascism in Europe and at home in the United States, I feel it necessary to remind people that 16.4 million Americans fought to defeat that ideology and protect freedom with over 1 million Americans paying that price in blood. Yet today, we are sleepwalking towards fascism and abandoning our role as the leader of the free world. As the son of a World War 2 veteran, the nation’s willful amnesia and betrayal of its values is heartbreaking.
